Start off at Strand Street and walk towards the Castle of Good Hope, which is the oldest building in South Africa. You can park the car here and take a guided tour and admire its art collection. Continue the tour down Darling Street. At the end of the street take a left onto Adderley Street. On the corner is the old Slave Lodge and also the Great Church (built in 1701) is on your left. Continue past St. Mary's Cathedral and make a left onto Queen Victoria Street and its park. The Garden here is lovely and houses the oldest museum in the country, the South Africa Museum. The museum exhibits material relating to the early human communities of the sub continent. It also has a whale gallery, as well as the important Linton Panel. There also is a planetarium attached to the museum.

Take a walk around Government Avenue and admire the Houses of Parliament. St. Georges Cathedral is at the bottom of the street on the left. The city's main pedestrian thoroughfare is around here at St. Georges Mall. On the left is the Greenmarket Square that has a great market. Up towards Church Street is where you will find art galleries and antique shops. Turn left at the end of Burg Street and make a right onto Queen Victoria Street and you will be back at your car.
